talente tauschkreis vorarlberg (ttkv): anmeldung

nach laaaaangem hin und her bin ich nun doch endlich mitglied beim talente tauschkreis vorarlberg (ttkv). falls sich jemand anmelden will: ruft direkt beim regionalleiter an -- die anmeldung ueber die website oder per email war bei mir nicht wirklich erfolgreich. erst als ich auf einem regionaltreffen war bekam ich alle unterlagen. der altersdurchschnitt dort war recht hoch, und alle leute waren sehr sehr nett. ein paar junge mitglieder haben am do, den 27. nov 2008 ein treffen "der naechsten generation" im net-culture-lab organisiert. das war ziemlich anders als das regionaltreffen der "vorigen generation" :-) ich hoffe es gibt bald wieder eines. jetzt habe ich mal zwei dinge angeboten -- mal schauen ob jemand was brauchen kann.

sunray server (srss 4.1) on linux-2.6.28-rc6-git1

... this is more complicated then i've thought. in 2.6.28 struct block_device_operations has changed! audio (utadem) and io (utio) module compile with usual (rather simple) modifications, but the disk (utdisk, utdiskctl) module needs more changes.

sunray server (srss) on gdm-2.22/-2.24 (fedora9)

only gdm <= 2.20 supports the gdmdynamic command. gdmdynamic is needed by the sunray server to create a new X sessions. if you install sunray server (srss) on a gdm > 2.20, you'll see:

+++SUNWutr-4.1-50.i386.rpm /etc/opt/SUNWut/xmgr/reset-dpy: line 65: gdmdynamic: not found (if installed, gdm > 2.20 will prevent you from logging in graphically. remove the package and restart gdm as root and you're fine again: rpm -e SUNWutr gdm-restart)

it seems that patches are available for gdm-2.22 and gdm-2.24 to reimplement gdmdynamic. hopefully they find their way quickly into the main gdm trunk (not yet in 2.24.1). http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gdm-list/2008-June/msg00001.html talks clearly about this, as well as about another bug, which has been fixed already. as i don't care so much about the gdm stuff, i'm trying to get SUNWutkau-4.1-50.i386.rpm SUNWutio-4.1-50.i386.rpm SUNWutdsk-4.1-50.i386.rpm going with linux-2.6.28-rc6-git1.

nvidia-180.06 compiles now without modifications on linux-2.6.28-rc6-git1 (on xorg-1.5.2, fedora9). suspend to memory works well (does not work with nvidia-180.08!). suspend to disk does not work.
